Land Use Strategic Plans

The Tasmanian Government is reforming the State’s planning system and introducing a single planning scheme for the State – the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.  Until this process is complete the Kentish Interim Planning Scheme 2013 is currently the planning scheme in operation for the Kentish Municipal Area.

The single state-wide planning scheme is being progressed.  The State Planning Provisions can be viewed at .  Council is now in the process of preparing its local provisions schedule.  This includes the allocation of zones, agricultural land, bushfire prone areas and natural asset mapping and any site specific use and development standards or qualifications.

In preparation for this task Council committed to reviewing all land use in the municipality to make sure the right zone is applied to all properties achieve the desired outcomes for all locations within the municipal boundary.  The land use reviews have been completed and have informed strategic plans for settlement areas within Kentish.  These strategic plans will in turn inform the Kentish Local Provisions Schedule in the Tasmanian Planning Scheme applicable for the Kentish municipal area.
