INSIGHT IN TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT

CANDIDATE INFORMATION SESSION – TUESDAY 21 AUGUST 2018 COMMENCING 5.30PM

Nominations for the Local Government elections open Monday 10 September 2018.  Kentish Council encourages you to consider nominating as a candidate.

Becoming a Councillor can be the most direct and rewarding way to contribute to your local community.  A councillor is part of a team that has the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the municipal area and determine the policies for the services delivered to the community.

Being a councillor can be an exciting, challenging and rewarding role, but it is one that requires time, commitment and the capacity to see and embrace the 'bigger picture' on behalf of the community.  Many Local Government services are complex and must continuously evolve in order to remain at a standard that meets the changing needs of the local community.

The day to day responsibility for Council operations is the responsibility of the General Manager.

To help make an informed decision about representing the Kentish municipality, Council will be hosting a Candidate Information Session on Tuesday 21 August commencing 5.30pm at the Kentish Council Chambers, 69 High Street Sheffield.

Held prior to the regular Council meeting potential candidates will acquire an understanding of meeting procedure, the type of issues discussed, processes and the potential time commitment required as a Councillor.

If you are interested in attending this Candidate Information Session, please register with Bronie Furley on 6491 0200.
