OPERATIONS MANAGER

Kentish and Latrobe Council are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to lead the operational workforce across both municipalities to deliver quality, cost effective and efficient service in infrastructure, assets and facilities.  The Operations Manager will be accountable for identifying and implementing changes which resource sharing enables that improves the municipalities.

Success in the role will be determined by capacity to lead others in identifying opportunities, realising changes and ensuring operational activities are well planned with a high level of attention to detail.  The successful applicant will also have appropriate technical knowledge and skills and sound and proven business acumen. Applicants must also be comfortable liaising with community members and groups, elected members and other staff to resolve various issues in a timely and appropriate manner.

The position forms part of the Council leadership team alongside Engineering Services, Corporate Services and Community Development.  As part of the leadership group there is a requirement to attend Council meetings and events out of hours and support peer leaders.

The appointee will need to be flexible in their approach to work, locating in either municipality as the role requires day to day.  The position is also a key part of Council’s emergency management team and therefore needs to be able to respond to any events of this nature in a reasonable and timely manner.

An attractive remuneration package will be on offer; $100,000 circa with components within and in addition to be negotiated.  The contract term is three years with the opportunity for a further two years subject to meeting performance criteria.

TEAM LEADER - TOWN SERVICES

Do you have experience in asset management, maybe as a builder, property manager or as a project manager in construction? If so, and you are an experienced leader or have leadership potential and a desire to work in local government then you should apply for this role.

You will be a person that is naturally highly organised and plans well at a daily, weekly, monthly, annual and five year horizon.  You will have an appreciation for community assets, infrastructure and facilities (buildings, footpaths, kerb and gutter, stormwater, toilets, street bins, footpaths and signage) and their lifecycle.

You will be familiar with routine and condition based monitoring maintenance regimes together with knowledge of making safe in an emergency.  You will also be able to contribute to capital works planning for municipal assets and partake in delivery of the plan.

You may have been a person on the ‘tools’ at some time, owned your own business, managed a facility or worked for a larger facilities or asset maintenance business.  You may have also worked in local government in a similar role.  In this role you will need the capability to lead a small group of staff to deliver safe, purposeful and municipal services for the assets that the community can take pride in.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new way of local government; embedding a resource sharing service model that delivers outcomes for both communities in a cost efficient and effective manner.

The successful applicant with appropriate skills and leadership capability can expect to be remunerated between $70,000-$85,000 per annum plus superannuation.
